There is another app for showtime, called "Showtime" that works just fine on Apple TV. I think this particular app is more for mobile use. The other app has to be activated or, preferably, a subscription should be purchased. Once activated, you shouldnt have to constantly log in. I dont have to. And if the app freezes, restart the Apple TV. If that doesnt work, uninstall then reinstall the app. And quit crying. Lol
